Around the World
McVan Scotties live in all kinds of places and with all kinds of people (See Traveling with McDuff). McVan Scots have resided in Mexico, Boliva, Panama, Portugal and Italy. They currently live in Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Japan and Thailand. Stateside, McVan Scotties live in Arizona, California, Colorado, Iowa, North Carolina, Oregon, Texas, Washington and with kissing cousins in Wyoming. We are proud that some owners of McVan Scotties are onto their second and third generations of wee Scotties from us. And many folks own not just one but two or three McVan Scotties . The record is seven Scotties owned over the past 10 years by Dynasty Scottish Terriers in Brazil.
In Australia, Pam Ryan-Orchard has become a close friend and member of the McVan family. Pam and Vandra became friends via email. Pam who was showing a wheaten scot named George contacted Vandra to get some tips on grooming wheaten Scottish Terriers. After lots of emails back and forth, Pam made the journey to visit the McVan Clan. Of course, Vandra put her to work helping to groom and show McVan Scotties. But in the process, Pam and Vandra became fast friends. Vandra and Michael traveled to Melbourne, Australia to visit Pam and her significant other George.
While Aussies were great, Vandra and Pam concurred that the breed in Australia could use some new blood. There were English scots in Australia but few from anywhere else. Therefore, the gene pool was very concentrated. The problem was Australia's complex quarantine law which requires about six months to complete. So Vandra pledged to send Pam a McVan dog-not just any dog but an American and Canadian champion with strong American bloodlines.
