GCH McVan's Be Bop Baby wins 17th specialty.

BetsytheScottish Terrier (subscribe to her posts on facebook) earned her 17th specialty Best in Show in Baltimore. The Best in Show was awarded by Barbara Casey. Betsy's sister Knopa New Champion McVan's To Russia With Love earned select honors. We are particularly proud when breeder judges love Betsy. Thank you!
Zoey Scores Big in Agility Competition

Zoey our Hawaian girl went to The Scottish Terrier Club of America's National Specialty at Montgomery County and competed in agility. At Montgomery County agility, obedience and rally trials Zoey who already has points towards her conformation title won six 1st place ribbons, two 2nd places and one 3rd place. She now has these AKC titles: BN, RN, NA, NAJ. She was handled by Allene Auld. What a wonderful team. Zoey follows in the footsteps of her dad, Zachery, who also is doing wonderful in agility.
Our Russian Boy Petie makes US Debue

We are proud to introduce our Russian import Gemma Stonhendge Poetic Justice of McVan (aka Petie). Petie was bred by our friend Mariana Khenkina. His sire is Sansibiliti Spy Who Loved Me, a top winning dog from Russia and our own Russian Ch. McVan's to Russia with Love (aka Knopa).
We are pleased to introduce Petie to the fancy. He has a strong front with clean elbows, deep brisket. His head is long, brick-shaped with small, high set ears. He carries his tail up at alert. He has a strong black coat. We are well pleased with our import and feel he will be useful in our and others breeding programs.
In his first shows in the USA, he earned a five point major, going breed over a special. He currently has seven points (half way to his championship in the USA).

McVan's Fire Starter "Carrie." She is the litter mate to our top winning BIS Am. Can. World Ch. McVan's Be Bop Baby, European BIS winner McVan's To Russia with Love and Am. Can. Ch. McVan's Sentimental Journey.

Ginny Goes BOB from the classes

At the All Terrier Club of Western Washington summer show, McVan's High Hopes went BOB from the classes. She defeated three specials and earned a four point major. She needs only two points to finish.

We are proud to announce the birth of a liter of two female puppies out of BIS Ch. McVan's Firestarter "Carrie" and Ch. Land Rose R Jp All Right "Max." This is a repeat breeding of the litter which produced Betsy and Frankie (both group winners in the US) and Knopa who has won all over Europe.

Frankie and Amy (Age 14) win big

We are proud to announced that Frankie and his new co-owner Miss Amy Judge earned Best Junior title at the Washington State Scottish Terrier Show. This was the first time Amy showed Frankie in juniors competition.
They have consistently been placing in the classes since June.
In the breed ring, Amy has put several group placements on Frankie. They are quite a team.
We believe that it is important to get young people involved with Scottish Terriers so our breed is left in capable hands.

Betsy Goes BOB at Crufts

GCh McVan's Be Bop Baby was honored in England at Crufts by going Best of Breed under breeder judge Carol Anaan. Betsy was shown by her co-owner and handler Rebecca Cross. Dorene Cross (Rebecca's mom) was there also.

Babies Eat First Meal

Five McVan babies (four boys and one girl) were born January 7, 2012. Three weeks later the kids have their first solid food meal of rice and goats milk. The puppies are out of Ch. Greatscot's Roadshow and BIS Am. Can. Ch. McVan's Northern Lights. The puppies trace back to BIS Ch. Gaelforce Postscript "Peggy Sue" who won the Westminster Dog show in the mid 90s.
Betsy Earns Best in Show in Puerto Rico

Silver Grand Champion McVan's Bee Bop Baby "Betsy" wins her second All Breed Best in Show in Puerto Rico on October 30th. This is Betsy's second All Breed BIS. The judge was Ken Delaney. She was handled by her co-owner Rebecca Cross. It was Rebecca's birthday weekend so it was a nice present for her. Woohoo for Team Betsy!
Frankie and sister Fanny Win Big in Canada

McVan Scotties traveled north to Abbottsford, BC, Canada for the Canadian Scottish Terrier Club specialty, BC Terrier Club and four all breed shows. GCH McVan's Sentimental Journey came home as a Canadian champion winning three Winner's Dog and Best of Winner awards. His sister McVan's Firefly of Warscott "Fanny" won on two days. The duo is shown here with Russian Judge Mrs Elena Yerusalimskaya. Frankie was Winner's Dog and Best of Winners. His sister was Winner's Bitch and Best of Opposite Sex. As shown above their sister Betsy got a Best in Show the same weekend. Two weeks earlier their sister in Russian got 3 Best in Shows! What a litter.

Knopa Earns 3 Best in Shows

BIS Ch. McVan's To Russia With Love earned three Best in Shows this weekend in Estonia. "Knopa" went Best in Show at CAC show in Estonia under breeder judge Dan Ericsson yesterday and today went Best in Show Maria Talvite. At the Terrier Specialty judged by Veli-Peka KUMPUMAKI she also went Best in Show.

Montgomery is the host to the Scottish Terrier Club of America's National Specialty. The Judge was Mrs. Darle Heck of Canada. Betsy is the #2 Scottish Terrier in the U.S. She is co-own by Dr. Vandra Huber and Rebecca Cross. Rebecca is also Betsy's handler and groomer.

To be listed by the Canine Health Information Center, a Scottish Terrier must be listed as clear for von Willebrand's Disease, not have luxated patellas pass a CERF eye test or thyroid test. Frankie Ranked No.4 Scottish Terrier

GCH McVan's Sentimental Journey joins his sister in the top 5 Scottish Terriers. He is ranked Number 4 in Group Points including two recent group 1s. Frankie is being shown currently in the Pacific Northwest by Travis and will journey back to Texas for the Fall shows.
Frankie's puppies are doing well in the show ring with numerous major. A new litter is due this week in Texas. Frankie is CHIC certified. We have among the highest number of CHIC scotties in the country. We are also a Breeder of Merit with the American Kennel Club

This win qualified Lacey for her Grand Champion title and ensures she qualifies for the Eukanuba invited show in December.

BIS Ch. McVan's Northern Lights "Aurora" came out to play briefly and earned select awards at the WSSTC, Puyallup and Tacoma Kennel Club Shows. Not bad for a pregnant girl.
Aurora is expecting 4-5 puppies out of Ch. Lucias Dream Summer Lightning "Zachery" around July 20-24. We are expecting wonderful puppies with good temperment, nice bone and of course McVan's happy outgoing personality.

Zachery Finishes U.S. Championship

Lucia's Dream Summer Lightning 'Zachery" finished his American championship in record time. Our dutch boy finished at year young and was expertly handled by Bergit Kabel. He will now head up north to finish his Canadian championship.
Webster struts off with a new title

"Webster" finished with multiple majors and a Best in Sweepstakes at the Washington State Scottish Terrier Club show under Judge Sonya Neve. Webster is 10th champion offspring of Am. Can. Ch. Beameup McVan's Gold Digger "Anna Nicole" which qualifies her for the registry of merit supreme (ROMX) designation of the Scottish Terrier Club of America. His sire, Am. Can. Ch. McVan's Light My Fire "Jimmy," now has 18 champion kids. Way to go Anna and Jimmy. Webster is the first Scottie champion owned by Ben Hosakul and Ken Kinhorn.

New Puppies for Annie and Carrie

Puppies, puppies every where. The first week of June saw the birth of two litters of puppies. Anna Nicole and Jimmy had a litter of three scotties. The litter included one exceptional wheaten girl, a smaller black boy and a fiesty but small wheaten boy.
A few days later, her daughter McVan's Fire Starter "Carrie" had a litter for four puppies. There were three beautiful black girls and one wheaten boy, all puppies were of good size with nice coats.
It's now 8 weeks later and the puppies are doing well. They have had their shots, they are eating sold food. Anna is teaching them to be tough scotties and to stand up own their feet. They enjoy their twice daily romps through the hall ways and love a rubber toy with a bell in it.
McVan Sweeps Up in Yakima

Ch. McVan's Trip the Light Fantastic "Ginger" got back to back Group 1s at the Yakima Kennel club Shows on Saturday and Sunday. She is owned by Carol Greenwald and handled Travis Luijten. This was "Ginger's first Group 1s.
Under terrier expert Elliot Weiss, McVan's Power of Love "Brenda" ignored the 100 degree heat and pranced her way to two 3- point majors. She was BOWs on Saturday. Brenda is loved and owned by Annie Bringloe.
McVan's Blinded by the Light "Maxwell" was WD and BOS on Saturday for a major and BOWS, BOS on Sunday to garner 6 points. Maxwell is owned by Vandra Huber and Michael Krolewski.
All three winners were sired by our special dog Am. Can. BISS Ch. McVan's Light My Fire "Jimmy". Anna Nicole is the mother of Ginger and Maxwell (both wheatens) and Ch. McVan's Down Home Girl is the mother of Brenda.
Back to Back Best in Shows in USA and Canada

McVan's Be Bop Baby "Betsy" earned Best in Specialty Show at the Scottish Terrier Club of America's National Specialty under breeder-judge Dr. Gerald Penta. The next weekend Betsy went to Canada and won their national specialty too! The Canadian National Specialty was judged by Fred Ferris. Betsy also earned her Canadian championship in three shows, the minimum allowed. We are indeed honored to have Betsy who was handled by co-owner Rebecca Cross earn these back to back national titles.
We are unaware of any Scottish Terrier in history who has won BOB at Crufts, a world title and U.S. and Canadian titles.
Brenda Continues Winning Ways

McVan's Power of Love "Brenda" is well on her way to finishing her American championship. In the last two weekends she was shown, she went Winner's Bitch all three times shown. Shown by our friend Travis, Brenda is owned by Annie Bringloe. Her sire is BISS McVan's Light My Fire and dam is Ch. McVan's Down Home Girl.
Aurora Finishes at Specialty

McVan's Northern Lights "Aurora" went BOW to finish her American championship at the Northern California speciality under breeder judge James Reynolds. Aurora is taking a brief vacation and then will move on to earn her Canadian championship and light up the agility ring. Aurora is out of Jimmy and Anna Nicole.
Aurora is also CHIC certified by the Orthopedic Foundation of America. McVan Scotties currently has 10 CHIC health certified dogs in our breeding program with more earning certifications.
Zachery Goes BOWs at Specialty

At 9 months young, Lucia's Dream Summer Lightning "Zachery" went BOWs and BOS at the Northern California Terrier specialty to earn his first major. This was the first time that Zachery was shown. Zachery was bred by Betty Smit-Kamerbeek in the Netherland. Thank you Betty for sending us this stallion of a young dog. He has temperament, a front to die for, great layback and good bone. He will be out at specialities this summer.

McVan's Lightning and Lace Strikes Ballyhoo garnered BOB honors from the classes at the Jackson Tennessee Dog Fanciers Association on May 17 for her first 4 point major. Owner-handled by Angie Solomito, Lacey bested two top Scottie specials to take the breed under terrier expert Bruce Schwartz. This teen-age Scottie lassie recently won the large 12-18 bitch class at the Scottish Terrier Club of America National Specialty. We are very proud of Lacey and Angie for their accomplishments.
In Washington state, Lacey's brother McVan's Light Of My Life "Webster" owned Ben Hosakul and Ken Kincaid got back to back BOWs and BOS at local shows. Webster needs a major to finish his championship.
Dante Earns AOM at Canadian National

Rocky is one of only two Scottish Terriers to have earned titles in conformation, agility, obedience and rally. He will be honored later this year by the STCA for his accomplishments

BANGKOK, THAILAND -- Am. Ch. McVan's E Equals MC-squared "Einstein" became a Thai champion in three shows with 3 Best Junior in Show wins. made his debute in Thailand at the Pantip Pet Expo. Shown by breeder Vandra, Einstein got BOB and Reserve Best in Group at the first two shows. Einstein who is 17 months old, also earned two Best Junior in Show titles on Australian Judge David Strachan and Thai judge Peerapong Pisitwuttinan. The next day, Einstein was shown by "Johnny" Khanchit Singhamongkolkhet who has taken a rest from grooming the famous U.S. sealyham "Charmin" and was in Thailand to visit his family. At the third show, Einsten went Best in Group, beating the #1 terrier and #3 all breed dog in Thailand. To become a Thai champion a dog must earn 3 ccs and 60 points. Points are awarded for breed and group placements. Einstein is proudly own by Dr. Teerana Bhongmakapat. Einstein is out of Am. Can. Ch. McVan's Light My Fire and Am. Can. Ch. Beameup McVan's Gold Digger.

McVan's Thrill of the Hunt at Chyscott (Ch. chyscott's First Knight and Ch. McVan's Fire Starter) was the division winner in STCA sweepstakes and won his class each day he was shown. he is owned by LaRae and Whitney shafter and Krissy Simmons.
Hunter's sister McVan's Keeper of the Stars owned by Joanne Young also placed her her classes.
Ch. McVan's Rocket Man NAP, NJP, NA, JE, RN, NAJ OAOAJ won the earth dog championship class at Montgomery. He is one of only two scotties to have qualified for the versatility award offered by the SFBSTC.
BIS Am. Can. Ch. McVan's Firestarter "Carrie" received an award of merit at Montgomery and 3rd in the brood bitch class. We are fortunate to own this beautiful Scottie.

McVan's Firestarter) was Best in Sweepstakes a the Scottish Terrier Club of Denver specialty at just over six months of age. The judge was Ellen Avery. He was reserve winner's dog under Sandra Goose Allen. On Sunday, Hunter got a five point major from the puppy class.
At home in Washington state, Hunter's mother Ch. McVan's Firestarter earned a Group 3.
Birth of five scottie lads from Ch. McVan's Legally Blonde (Elle) and Ch. Chyscott's First Knight

I am pleased to announce the birth of five scottie lads from Ch. McVan's Legally Blonde (Elle) and Ch. Chyscott's First Knight. The puppies were whelped by Margaret Kooda and family in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
The litter consisted of four wheatens and one brindle boy. While the first week is always critical, Margaret reports that so far, everyone is doing well.
Einstein Finishes His U.S. Championship & Jimmy Earns ROM

At less than a year of age, McVan’s E Equals McSquared finished his U.S. championship. Einstein is the first puppy out of a repeat breeding of Jimmy and Anna Nicole to finish his championship. Einstein who was WD at the Northern California Terrier Association shows is now in Thailand with his owner Teerana.
Einstein is the 10th champion sired by Am. Can. Ch. McVan’s Light My Fire which means that Jimmy is eligible for the STCA’s Registry of Merit award. Jimmy is already in the hall of fame for his specialty wins.
McVan Scotties Retires WSSTC’s Blackbriar BIS Challenge Trophy

Puyallup, WA – BIS Am. Can. Ch. McVan’s Fire Starter “Carrie” earns Best in Show honors at the Washington State Scottish Terrier Club Specialty. This is Carrie’s second specialty Best in Show in the past month. The judge was terrier expert Sharon Cook. Handled by Travis, Carrie also earned a Group 1 the next day at the Puyallup Kennel Club show.
In garnering this win, McVan Scotties retires the WSSTC’s Blackbriar Best in Show Challenge trophy. To retire the trophy, dogs owned by the same owners must win the breed three times. The trophy was named after the first WSSTC specialty winner, Blackbriar Brooke. Carrie’s father Am. Can. Ch. In the classes, McVan’s Power of Love won the 12-19 sweepstakes division. Owned by Annie Bringloe, Brenda was handled by Robbie Garvin. Thank you Robbie!
Second in the class was Warscot’s April Showers owned and bred by Nancy Warfield and Vandra. At 6 months young McVan’s Too Darn Hot of Trotters won her sweepstakes and 6-9 puppy bitch class with first time owner-handler Ken Kinloch. Táp tim (Ruby in Thai) is co-owned by Amphorn “Ben” Hosakul.
McVan’s Light’s Camera Action owned by Sally Johnson and her sister McVan’s Northern Lights both placed in the 9-12 puppy bitch class. Michael Krolewski also showed McVan’s Night and Day. The next day, Warscot’s Curious George of McVan owned by Nancy Warfield and Vandra Huber went BOWs and Best of Opposite Sex for a four point major. George also picked up two more BOW wins on the Idaho circuit the next week.

McVan Scotties almost makes a clean sweep at the WSSTC specialty. The day begin with mcVan's Light of my Life "webster" earning best in sweepstakes. Webster is owned by Ken Kinloch and Ben Hosakul. This is the second year the boys have taken top honors with a McVan scottie.
Webster also got RWD under judge Ray Bay.
Best of Winners went to Annie Bringloe's typey bitch New Champion McVan's Power of love "Brenda." The day was complete with Best in Specialty honors going to Ch. McVan's Trip the Light Fantastic which who is owned by Carol Greenwald. Our typey wheaten girl is clearning up in the Pacific Northwest and already has amassed numerous group ones.

went Best of Breed at the New York Scottish Terrier Club specialty under judge Mr. Robert Moore. Carrie earned top honors over a field of 60 Scottish Terriers.
She was handled by her friend and handler Travis Liujten. The day before, Carrie earned Best of Opposite Sex honors at the Scottish Terrier Club of America's National specialty. The judge was Mr. Edd Bivin.
We are thankful to the judges for recognizing Carrie's breed type, correct size, exquisite head and true movement.

Ohio --Ch. McVan's Jumpin' Jack Flash, a lovely wheaten boy earned four first place honors in agility this week. Jax was expertly handled by Michael Thomas, an up and coming young junior handler.
Michael's mentor Joanne Young also did well in the competition.
But the weekend went to Jax's and Michael. Way to go.
Carrie Gets All-Breed Best-In-Show (BIS) at Peninsula Dog Fanciers Show

Am. Can. Ch. McVan's Fire Starter "Carrie" garnered all breed Best in Show honors at Peninsula Dog Fanciers. The breed and Best in Show judge was George J. Heitzman. Terrier Group Judge was Edd Bivin. Carrie defeated 1,185 dogs. This is Carrie's first all breed Best in Show. She is the eighth homebred McVan Scottish Terrier to earn an all breed BIS.
Carrie was Best of Winner's at the 2007 Scottish Terrier Club of America rotating specialty and Best of Winner's at the 2007 Canadian Scottish Terrier Club rotating specialty. The year before, she won Best in Sweepstakes honors at the Canadian national specialty and took RWB to her mother. Carrie is out of Am. Can. Ch. McVan's Light My Fire X Am. Can. Ch. Beameups McVan's Gold Digger.
We are mighty proud of Carrie and the fire she has set in the show ring.

WOODINVILLE, WA--- On February 29, Anna Nicole (Ch. Beameup McVan's Gold
Digger) and Jimmy (Ch. McVan's Light My Fire) gave birth to five happy scottie puppies. This is their third litter. The first litter produced multiple specialty winners and BIS Am. Can. Ch. McVan's Light My Fire.
The litter includes three wheaton boys, a black boy and a black brindle girl. The puppies decided to get some spring sun and play in the flowers recently. So here are pictures of two of the explorers.
